Colorado
Home to the Rockies, it’s no surprise that Colorado boasts some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the western US. From its alpine, glacial blue lakes of the summer to its forests of aspens bursting with autumn colors, the beautiful state of Colorado has delivered stellar displays of outdoor beauty no matter the time of year I’ve visited.
Very near the top of my list of favorite states for a road trip, one of the best things about Colorado are all of the rad little mountain towns that are ripe for a side quest and begging to be explored as you take to the open roads.
There’s no shortage of adventures to be had in the Colorado outdoors. I’ve trekked up 14,000-foot mountain peaks (14ers as the locals like to call them), wandered the great sand dunes under an illumination of starlight, and backpacked, camped and 4x4’d through the rugged and intimidating back country wilderness. The mile-high state is also home to one of my favorite baseball parks in the country. There’s nothing quite like wrapping up a day spent outdoors by taking in a rocky mountain sunset while enjoying the sights and sounds of a ballgame.
I hope that you enjoy my photos from this playground of the west.
